Restoring Manually

Top  Previous  Next

Although we provide an automated restore facility, you can use the following to guide you through a manual restore process. We do NOT recommend this as restoring just one file could cause your data to become corrupted as data files may get out of sync. Therefore use with caution!

Assuming you are restoring to the SAME operating system then open the backup file you are attempting to restore. You should see a similar window. If not we recommend you download a free copy of Winzip as the processes used by Microsoft do not make this feature very clear. WinZip can be obtained from www.winzip.com

Restore1

The first thing to do is to highlight ALL the files on the left as we do NOT advise attempting to restore individual files. Note how the full path name appears on the right.

Now click on Extract and you will see the following window:

Restore 2

It is critical that you replicate these settings or your restore WILL fail.

First make sure that Overwrite Existing Files and Use Folder Name is checked.

Now use the standard Windows dialogue wizard to change the Extract To filed to C:\ (or your local root directory). This will ensure that the files are saved back to the exact location they came from.

When ready click on Extract bottom right to complete the restore process.
